Amidst the landmark review from Dr. Hilary Cass showing hormone therapy for gender confused children has “remarkably weak” evidence, Scotland has followed England’s decision to stop allowing gender clinics to prescribe hormone therapy to kids 17 years old and under.
The Sandyford clinic in Glasgow, Scotland will no longer be permitted to “affirm” a child’s self-stated gender identity by giving them drugs which have been tied to possibly making them sterile, on top of lowering their IQ.
Cass’s review underscored the inadequacies within the realm of gender services for minors, including a dearth of substantial research into the area.
The decision from NHS Scotland comes one month after NHS England announced the same policy, citing the drugs can cause “irreversible changes,” such as breast development, permanent voice augmentation, as well as the potential for infertility.
Danielle Smith touts UK’s ban on puberty blockers
Amid the predictable far-left insanity coming from certain Canadian politicians and media, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith recently took the opportunity to highlight the UK’s alignment with her recent trans policy announcements. Smith announced a slew of new policies, from keeping trans-identified biological men out of women’s sports, to banning doctors from prescribing hormone therapy to minors under 16 years old.
Naturally, far-left politicians called her “anti-trans.”
But Smith referenced the NHS, stating she’s focusing on the “broader international picture.”
“We want to make sure kids are making these decisions when they are old enough to understand the consequences,” Smith said.
“We are talking about sterility — let’s be frank about it.”
