On Monday, January 27, police in northwest Edmonton announced they are investigating three men who held up signs reading “Deport Them All”—which authorities claim are “racially motivated.”
Alberta RCMP officers were called to the St. Albert Centre, where they told the demonstrators to leave the area. The RCMP defended their actions, stating their goal is to ensure everyone “feels safe” and is treated with “equality” and respect.
A similar demonstration occurred on Saturday, January 25, when three individuals displayed “White Lives Matter”signs.
St. Albert Mayor Cathy Heron condemned the incident in a Facebook post, stating, “This is not the St. Albert I know and love.”
How Canadians view mass immigration
The protests come amid rising concerns over mass immigration in Canada. A July 2024 Léger poll found that 60% of Canadians believe the country is accepting too many newcomers.
By December 2024, nearly half of Canadianssupported mass deportations for asylum claimants.
As public skepticism toward mass migration and multiculturalism grows, Canadian authorities continue to crack down on protests, labeling them as hateful criminal activity.
The St. Albert RCMP is now asking the public to submit any images or videos of the signs or the individuals holding them, according to CityNews Edmonton.
