Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek has launched a website in what appears to be a re-election campaign.
In a cowboy hat and dressed in all black, Gondek posted to her social media an update that read, “I am working for Calgarians by tackling our largest shared priorities, from affordable housing and public safety to infrastructure and job growth.”
Moreover, the mayor has revealed she now has a personal website.
“I heard from so many Calgarians that they appreciated regular updates and simplified messaging. That’s why I’m launching this website,” she stated.
In it, she says that she’s focused on building strong relationships with City Council, government bodies, and citizens to address “important basic needs.”
Gondek is supported by fewer than 1 in 5 residents, and likely cannot win re-election according to an exclusive poll commissioned by The Counter Signal.
Moreover, unrelated polling from December 2023 by ThinkHQ data showed that Mayor Gondek is the least popular mayor in recorded history.
Earlier this year, Mayor Gondek set the record as the first big-city mayor in the nation to have a recall process enacted.
Her deep unpopularity comes as a shock to her, but the recall petition is no surprise to the Calgarians who have watched the mayor closely since she took control of the city.
