Video has emerged of one of the 9 men charged in Canada’s biggest gold heist ever hitting the gym after being released on on bail just two days after police announced charges.

Parmpal Sidhu, a 54-year-old man from Brampton and one of the Air Canada employees charged with theft over $5000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, can be seen in a video shot by man walking back to his car from the gym.

The man filming the video is in shock. “That’s the guy right there!” he said, followed by expletives.
All 9 men have been released on bail at a time when many are questioning Canada’s soft-on-crime policies that often see repeat offenders being caught, then released.
Peel Regional Police state that they are very frustrated with how individuals are released but that it is a part of the environment in Canada.

Most gold remains unrecovered
Peel regional police announced their charges on Wednesday after a lengthy investigation from a flight one year ago, on April 17, 2023, that arrived at Pearson International Airport from Zurich, Switzerland, carrying a cargo of 6600 bars of .9999% pure gold.
After the flight landed, the cargo was unloaded and transported to a designated location on Airport property. Police released footage of the truck used to transport the gold, the vast majority of which remains unrecovered.

The total weight of the gold stolen in the heist was 400 kilograms, valued at over 20 million dollars, with an additional CAD 2.5 million worth in foreign currency.
‘This particular theft has become the largest gold theft in Canadian history,’ said Peel Regional Chief Nishan Duraiappah.
Peel regional police would not disclose any of the men’s citizenship status to The Counter Signal.
All men are innocent until proven guilty.
