A guest on the far-left MSNBC network said that the January 6 capital riot was worse than what happened to America on 9/11.
Peter Strzok, former FBI counterintelligence agent, made the statement to host Nicole Wallace.
“I think if you look at the scale in terms of a threat to democracy,” Strzok said, “I mean, 9/11 was a tragedy – we lost thousands of lives in a horrific way that we still mourn to this day – but when you look at something that is an attack on democracy, something that could actually bring about a fundamental change to American governance as we understand it, 9/11 is nothing compared to January 6.”
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks by Islamic terrorists.
As for the January 6 capital riot in 2021, there are mixed reports about how many people exactly died during that day. One female, Ashli Babbitt, died by gunshot from an officer while she was inside the capitol building. The Times reports that another individual died of a heart attack, and one woman reportedly was crushed in a stampede.
At least two police officers on guard that day reportedly committed suicide just days after the event.
Left-wing media continue to play up the idea that right-wing extremism is a greater threat to Western civiliation than religious terrorism.
Last year, also on MSNBC, guest and US veteran Paul Rieckhoff echoed Strzok’s claims. Rieckhoff said domestic terrorism seen on January 6 was “the number one national security threat.”
Earlier this year, President Joe Biden similarly demonized the 70 million Americans who voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020.
“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,” Biden said at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
“MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of the law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election.”
