Notley under pressure to fire MLA who called Israelis “barbarians”

Alberta’s New Democrat Party (NDP) leader Rachel Notley is under pressure to fire MLA Lizette Tejada after antisemitic comments were uncovered by Rebel News.

The NDP has a history of supporting communism and related far-left causes including abolishing the police and prisons.

This time, Calgary-Klein MLA Lizette Tejada is under fire for posts she made years ago while commenting on previous Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.

In 2014, Tejada said on X (formerly Twitter), “my heart can’t hold this anymore. I want to scream. #GazaUnderAttack #watchIsrael commit genocide, unhindered!”

Furthermore, in 2009, Tejada called Israelis “Barbarians” while commenting on a blog.

“This is not about self-defence. This is about killing the past, present and the future. As always, you are in my prayers….and the prayers of millions throughout the world,” she said, as per Rebel News.

Tejada won the 2023 Alberta general election for Calgary-Klein with 10,564 votes. Her opponent, incumbent MLA Jeremy Nixon, received 9,697 votes.

In July, Tejada slammed Premier Danielle Smith for taking a photo with a man who wore a t-shirt that read “Straight Pride.”

“Danielle Smith has a long history of amplifying messages of hate and intolerance followed by recanting or feigning ignorance,” Tejada said.

Nationwide issue

On Wednesday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford called for NDP member of provincial parliament Sarah Jama to resign after she posted her latest antisemitic statement on X.

“Sarah Jama has a long and documented history of antisemitism,” Ford said.

“Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP have proven time and time again that they tolerate these hateful views and actions by keeping Ms. Jama in their caucus.”
