AND SO IT BEGINS: Quebec to fine unvaccinated over medical status

On January 11, Quebec Premier Francois Legault announced that the government would begin forcing the unvaccinated to pay “significant” fines over their refusal to take the COVID vaccine.

“The vaccine is the key to fight[ing] the virus,” Legault said in a news conference. “This is why we’re looking for a health contribution for adults who refuse to be vaccinated for non-medical reasons.”

“Those who refuse to receive their first dose in the coming weeks will have to pay a new health contribution.”

“… All Quebec adults who refuse in the coming weeks to at least get a first dose will be getting a bill,” he said.

And there it is. Much like Austria, who first announced that they would be fining those who refuse the vaccine over 3,000 Euros per month, with jail time if they refuse to pay the fines for the three months, Quebec has become the first Canadian province to threaten the unvaccinated with financial penalties directly.

Legault has yet to announce how costly the fine will be, only saying that it will be significant (probably too expensive for the average person to afford).

This comes after Quebec once again imposed an 8 p.m. curfew, with police patrolling the streets looking for non-compliers to fine and arrest.

While Legault says that the vaccine is the solution, few Canadians still believe this — nor does Legault, who recently added booster shots as a part of Quebec’s vaccine passport system, citing the waning (if not non-existent) efficacy of the vaccine. Moreover, Quebec is already administering fourth doses. And who knows when the fifth dose will begin making the rounds as the vaccine proves itself more ineffectual day after day.

Regardless, Legault is leading the charge for Canada down a dark path of medical tyranny, the effect of which may be long-lasted and irreversible.
