EXCLUSIVE: Trudeau appoints Liberal donor judge to review use of Emergencies Act

The supposedly impartial judge appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to review the invocation of the Emergencies Act has been a long time and repeated financier of Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada, The Counter Signal has learned.

According to documents obtained by The Counter Signal, some of which have mysteriously disappeared from the Elections Canada website, Justice Paul S. Rouleau has funnelled money year after year to the Liberal Party.

Earlier today, Trudeau announced the establishment of the Public Order Emergency Commission, led by Rouleau as Commissioner, to investigate Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act.

Outside the financial loyalty to Trudeau, it is not immediately clear what makes Rouleau qualified to chair such a crucial commission.

Rouleau’s Wikipedia page is only 34 words long, but financial contributions made by him to the Liberals tell a much more detailed story.

Rouleau is a long-time donor

UPDATE: While donations were made by an unrelated donor of the same name (Paul Rouleau) in recent years, Justice Paul S. Rouleau has a much longer history, and his donations were captured by the Postmedia “Follow The Money” search engine. Strangely, these donations do not appear to be available on the public Elections Canada donor database.

“In the coming days and weeks, I will be working to establish the Public Order Emergency Commission and will be offering more information on the functioning of the Commission in the near future,” Rouleau wrote in a statement.

“I am committed to ensuring that the process is as open and transparent as possible, recognizing the tight timelines for reporting imposed by the Emergencies Act.”

As per a news release, the Commission will examine Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act and the “measures taken in response to the emergency.”

“This includes the evolution of the convoy, the impact of funding and disinformation, the economic impact, and efforts of police and other responders prior to and after the declaration,” the news release reads.

“…. As Commissioner, Justice Rouleau will submit a final report in both official languages to the Government of Canada on his findings and recommendations, which must be tabled in the House of Commons and Senate of Canada by February 20, 2023.”

As many will recall, nearly every single accusation against the Freedom Convoy protesters made during the protest has been debunked.

FINTRAC has stated that they did not find evidence of extremist elements in the Convoy, there have been no weapons charges laid against the protesters, and arson charges were not linked to a Freedom Convoy protester.

Nonetheless, Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act, eventually revoking his self-granted powers on February 23 after realizing that the Senate had plans to strike it down, which would have undermined his authority and legitimacy as Prime Minister.

The Counter Signal reached out to Rouleau to confirm his alleged donations to the Liberal Party and requested comment, but after waiting hours before publishing, we have yet to receive a response. This story will be updated if we receive such confirmation or comment.
