The federal Conservatives have called on the Trudeau government to put in place protective measures for Jewish Canadians after a known Hamas terrorist called for an international day of violence this Friday.
“The dangerous and hateful rhetoric from Hamas terrorists inciting violence this Friday around the world must be taken seriously,” Conservative MP Melissa Lanstman stated on X.
“All levels of government MUST ensure adequate security and protective measures are in place for Jewish schools, synagogues, and community centres across the country.”
Lantsman, supported by leader Pierre Poilievre, asked for the feds to convene a call between provincial and municipal law enforcement authorities.
“Ensure the RCMP, including specialized Integrated National Security Enforcement Teams (INSET) and National Security Enforcement Sections (NSES), is providing resources and working directly with appropriate provincial and municipal police forces to share appropriate information and intelligence to provide protection to the Jewish communities across Canada,” Lantsman’s statement read.
Lantsman’s request comes after a Hamas official, Khalid Mashal, issued a “Declaration of General Mobilization” call to violence on Friday, as reported by the Daily Signal.
“A call to our Palestinian people, the masses of the Arab and Islamic world, and free people worldwide … We declare next Friday, ‘The Friday of the Al-Aqsa Flood,’ as a day of general mobilization in our Arab and Islamic world and among the free people of the world,” Mashal stated.
